The Restored Name

All of the material here is historical fact presented in hope that the reader will begin a search for truth to learn the true and sacred name of the Creator of the Universe.  Please note that Hebrew is written right to left , and is so written in this document.

"God" is a noun, but not a proper noun.  "God" is not a name.  It denotes a type of being.  "Human" is what you are....but "human" is not your name.

The Absolute Name as originally given to Moses on Sinai  is YHWH   (Yod Hay Vav Hay) (Exodus 3:14). Also written as   which is paleo (early) Hebrew.

This Name is known as the Tetragrammaton: "The 4 Letter Name." In English the tetragrammaton is most often pronounced as "Yahweh."

Originally, Hebrew was a pictographic drawn language and did not have vowels. Eventually the Hebrews began to insert  dots (called vowel points) around the letters to designate the pronunciation.

Over the years discomfort with the Divine Name developed as provoked by rabbinical insistence.  Soon, people would not pronounce YHWH at all believing the name was too holy to be spoken. Whenever they saw YHWH written, they would substitute "The Name" (Ha Shem) or "The Lord" (Adonai).

When scripture translators came to YHWH in the text, they added the vowel points for Adonai ("Lord") to remind the reader that the Divine Name was "too sacred and not to be pronounced".

In the Middle Ages, around 1500, translators misunderstood that the vowel points were for "Adonai", not "Yahweh".  Thus, they combined the letters of YHWH with the vowels of Adonai.  This is similar to changing "Betty" into "Botta" by keeping the same consonants but using the wrong vowels.  The result was "Jehovah".  The etymological fact is that "Jehovah" is a mistranslation based upon a historical misunderstanding.

In modern Bibles whenever the name YHWH should be found, it is usually "translated"  as LORD or Jehovah.  Both are wrong.  The King James version makes this substitution more than 6800 times.

When catechisms and preachers say "What is God's name? God is God's name" they are simply wrong.

Few ordained clergy apparently understand any of this. Of those who know it, only a small percentage seem to actually care and use it.

Yet the 3rd Commandment STILL SAYS, "Thou shall not take the Name of YHWH your God in vain, for YHWH will not leave him unpunished who takes His Name in vain."

Once we determine that the translators of the Bible have obscured the Sacred Name of YHWH, we need then to examine what was done to the Son's name. As YHWH is the Father's name as presented in the Hebrew, it is unlikely that His son, who was a Jew born in the Hebrew land to Jewish earthly parents had a Greek name - Jesus. His name is accurately Yahshua meaning Yah is salvation.

YHWH sent His Son Yahshua (Jesus) to the earth to remind us that we are all YHWH's children.  Yahshua came in the Name of YHWH.

We strive to honor and revere the Creator of the universe and His son, our Savior by using the true names.  We encourage other believers to do likewise.

We DO NOT intend to offend others! Nor do we claim that those who do not know, understand, or espouse the correct names are without salvation ... that is not our judgment to make.

However, we do strongly encourage believers to study the issue to learn why the true names are of utmost importance.    Is it important to use the sacred or restored names?
